Land Acknowledgement
As Fugug Heritage and Relief Association Corporation, we acknowledge that our activities take place on the traditional territories of the Indigenous Peoples of this land, Treaty 6 and the traditional land of the Métis. We recognize the deep ties they have with these lands and the importance of their cultural and heritage beliefs. We are grateful for the opportunity to work here and re-affirm our commitment to work in partnership with Indigenous communities.
We were founded in 2012 and incorporated in 2019 with the initial idea to welcome newcomers, help them with resettlement, integration, and maintain their heritage. We have since expanded our operations by opening a heritage school and sponsoring refugees.
We are committed to the values of commitment, trust, and respect. Our vision is to empower and integrate newcomers into Canadian social, cultural, and socio-economic life while maintaining their heritage.
Our mission is to facilitate networking among each member to support one another and to promote the preservation, continuity, and development of language, culture, and traditions.
We gather here today on this land to honor and respect the past, present, and future generations of all Indigenous Nations and to honor the heritage and culture of newcomers welcomed by us. We are committed to acknowledging, learning, and respecting the rich heritage that exists on this land, and to honoring the strength and resilience of all its people. We pay our respects to the Indigenous Peoples of Treaty 6 territory and the Métis, whose footsteps have marked these lands for centuries.
